A few weeks back, a lifeguard was fired for saving a life. It turns out that Tomas Lopez left his section of the beach in order to save a drowning man. According to his company, when Lopez left his section, he put the people he had been designated to protect in jeopardy, so they fired him! The good news is that Lopez has since been offered his job back.

As I thought about that story, I was reminded of what the Bible says about Jesus.  “Jesus made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!”

In other words, Jesus left his station in heaven in order to become a man, and then he died on the cross to save all men. Jesus’ concern for our salvation moved Him to lifesaving fulfillment of God’s plan.

Jesus is not only our Lifeguard, but He is the Lifesaver for all who believe (John 3:16).

Have a Blessed Day!
