Remove Our Hindrances – August 10, 2016
Genesis 12:1, The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Sunday I began a new teaching series titled, Navigating Life’s Journey. The first key to understanding life’s journey is a proper understanding of God’s blessings in your life. God wants to bless you, but you must remove hindrances in your life.
There are two major hindrances that keep God from blessing. The first is selfishness. When everything you do, say or think about is how you can enlarge your kingdom, your house, or your bank account… that is selfishness. God does not bless selfish people because they are not willing to share with others the blessings they receive. A second hindrance is sin. Sin is any attitude or action that does not please God. The Bible is very clear that God does not bless sin.
Don’t let selfishness or sin in your life keep you from being blessed by God. In other words, live by God’s plans and not your own. Read these words from God in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” So God’s plan for your life is to bless you, but you have to get rid of your sin and selfishness to really see God’s plan for your life.
Think about that and have a blessed day!
