We Aren’t All Bubbas & Banjos!

That was the headline of the recent article about Gerald Lester Watson, Jr. You might know him better as the newest Masters’ winner and southerner named “Bubba Watson.” Ok, so maybe we do have a few Bubbas in the South.

In some respects, Bubba Watson is a stereotypical southerner. He does own the General Lee (The Confederate Flag-Emblazoned car from the “Dukes of Hazzard”), and he “loves God and his momma.” After winning the Masters, Bubba proudly thanked God and hugged his mother! So let the stereotypes continue.

Bubba knows that his winning the Masters is more about God’s plan for his life than his own plans. He describes himself on Twitter as a Christian, husband, daddy, and pro golfer. His greatest hope is that his Masters championship and his golfing successes will help him spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the world.

After all, it was Jesus who said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14).

So take a cue from Bubba today and wherever you go or whatever you do, let your light be a shining beacon to those around you.

Have a Blessed Day.
