One of Jesus’ last commands to his disciples was that they would “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”(Matthew 16:15)However, if you keep up with the news and current events, you know there just is not a lot of Good News in the world today.

I recently read an article titled “US Tax Code Longer than the Bible.” At nearly 4 million words, the US tax law is so thick and so complicated that American businesses and individuals will spend some 6 billion hours complying with the filing requirements.  That is truly amazing and a bit discouraging depending on how you look at it.

Representative David Camp, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said, “This report confirms that the code is 10 times the size of the Bible with none of the good news.”So if you are looking for some good news in 2013, do not expect to get much from the news, Twitter, or government documents, especially the Tax Code.

Each week, I get the privilege of sharing the Good news that God loves us so much that He sent His son into the world to save us from our sins. His love for us is deep; it is active and it is unconditional.  Now that is a front-page story that never gets old!

When society disappoints you, think about the good news of Christ’s love and protection.  When the work-force discourages you think about God’s comfort.  When finances frustrate you, think about God’s provision and promise.  God loves You!

Think about it, and have a blessed day!
