Are you worried about the moral state of decline in our nation? I recently read an article in Atlantic Journal where the authors studied books printed from 1901-2000. The research showed a marked decline in uprightness. In other words, words like: character, conscience, decency, dignity, righteousness, uprightness, and virtue are not being used as much in books. Even words like honesty, patience and humility are going away. However, the terms tolerance, and fairness showed increased use. The authors of the study noted, “People simply do not think/talk/write about morality and virtue as much anymore. The vocabulary for talking about issues of good and bad, right and wrong thus seems to be shrinking.”
However, scripture stands firm on the type of words that we should think and speak. Scripture says, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, ….O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14-)
As you think about your conversation today, speak uprightly, and may God be honored.
Have a blessed day,
