Explore God: Is Christianity Too Narrow In Its View Of Truth?
October 7, 2015
John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Matthew 7:14, But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Many people attack Christianity saying it’s too narrow. They might say, “Well, I believe that all truth is relative.” Honestly, that may sound good, but it is not the way anyone lives. When you drive through a green light, you trust that those going the other way are going to stop at the red light. You do not want someone on the other side of the light saying, “Red means go to me.” If students are taking a math test, the answer to 10+10 is always 20, regardless of what grade they are in, what country they live in, or what language they speak. The answer is 20, and all other numbers are ruled out.
So, truth is not relative, truth is truth! Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The question is NOT whether Jesus’ statement is “too narrow,” the better question is, “Is Jesus’ statement true?” After all, truth is narrow, and why is that, because it is true. Therefore, do not spend your time wondering if Christianity is too narrow; instead spend your time searching it out to see if it is true.
Think about that, and have a blessed day!
