Psalm 119:105, Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.

This week, I’ve been sharing the top 5 most searched Bible verses that come from the Psalms. We examined Psalm 46:1,  Psalm 37:4, Psalm 1:1, and Psalm 19:1. If you missed any of those you can find them on my daily blog @ The number 1 most searched Psalm is Psalm 119:105, which says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.”

The idea is that the Word of God is like a flashlight, or a flood light that shows the way on a dark night, so we don’t wander off course and onto the wrong path that might lead to danger. God’s Word doesn’t simply light the path, it prevents us from stumbling over obstacles that might present themselves. This beautiful verse is very full of instruction. The one who makes God’s Word his/her guide and follows its teachings will always be on the right path. That person will be able to recognize the correct path and avoid all those paths that would lead one astray. We must remember that like a flashlight is worthless unless it is turned on, God’s Word will not benefit us unless we open it and read it. So, today, turn the lamp of God’s Word on, and chances are you will find the right path and avoid a lot of hidden obstacles that lie ahead.

Think about it…and have a blessed weekend.
