God Can Keep You From Stumbling – June 10, 2016
Jude 1:24, To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy.
Philippians 2:13, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.
Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Sunday, I began preaching a new sermon series titled, “Faces Of Grace!” Each and every one of us, men and women, young and old, single and married, we are the faces of grace.
Yesterday, we looked at John 8 where the woman was caught in adultery and some wanted her stoned. But Jesus said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Do you remember what happened? They all left because they were all guilty of some sin even if it was not adultery. Then Jesus looked at the woman and said, “…neither do I condemn you.” Now that is grace. She was sinful and deserved punishment, but Jesus chose forgiveness. That is true grace. True grace forgives us from our past sins, but that is not all. True grace also puts us back on the right path and keeps you from stumbling again. Jude 1:24, God is able “… to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy.”
Did you read those words? Regardless of your checkered past, God is able to keep you from stumbling again. But that’s not all… He brings you to Himself without fault. So, if you think you have done things that are so wrong in your past that you could never be accepted by God or have joy again, God’s amazing grace says your wrong.
Join us at Cottonwood Creek this Sunday as we continue our study of the grace of God!
Think about that…and have a grace-filled weekend!
