The Treasure was right there all the time, but no one bothered to look inside!

Recently, a janitor, working in a German library, opened a small box that had been stashed away in the corner of the library. She found 172 well-preserved coins that dated back to Ancient Greece, Roman & Bynzantine empires.  The coins could be worth millions of dollars.

It seems that the coins were placed in the box back in 1803 – Then they were mistakenly forgotten.  Finally, this year- a Janitor opened the box…the treasure had been there all the time.

When the Janitor was asked about the box, she said “It was a pretty unspectacular box, but it contained an amazing treasure!” The finder had walked by the box for years with very little interest until one day her curiosity peaked.

The Apostle Paul said the same thing about US in 2 Corinthians. He said, “We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us…(2 Corinthians 4)

The Apostle Paul is saying, “Like that box, We may look pretty unspectacular, but God has placed a treasure inside each of us.” We may walk past God and show very little interest in Him until one day- we finally understand the treasure that waits for those who know the Lord.

As we study Proverbs at Cottonwood Creek this month- We are taking the challenge to open the treasures of God’s wisdom that are encased in the book of Proverbs.  Join us in reading today’s Proverb- you never know what forgotten treasure is there for you.
