Number Four – March 2, 2016

Genesis 1:1, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

People often ask me about numbers in the Bible. Numbers in the Bible do mean or represent certain things. It should also be noted that over the years, many people have tried to make too much out of every number in the Bible. Sometimes in the Bible, numbers are just numbers or historical facts. However, there are a few numbers in the Bible that have significant meaning.
Already this week, we have looked at the numbers one and three (You can find those on my daily blog @ www.johnmarkcaton.com). Today, significant Biblical number is the number four. In the Bible, the number four refers to the Earth.

The number four represents the earth in the Bible. The earth has four seasons; winter, spring, summer and fall. The earth has four primary directions; north, south, east and west. The evenly balanced number four should remind us of the one who created the world in which we live. You don’t have to look far to find out who created it. In Genesis 1:1, the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” So, if or when you see, hear or say the number four today, remember that in Scripture, the number four refers to the earth, and we can’t think of creation without thinking of the wonderful Creator, none other than God Himself.

Think about it…and have a blessed day!
