Born In Bethlehem – December 4, 2015

Micah 5:2, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me One who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”

This week we began our Christmas adventure. So far, we studied that the prophet Isaiah told us that Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary, and a Son was given by God. We also read that Jesus has all the power, knowledge and wisdom we will ever need. If you missed any of those, you can find them on my daily blog.

A prophet named Micah told us the place in which Jesus would be born and that place was none other than Bethlehem. Read these words from Micah 5:2,“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me One who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” With those words, long before Christ’s birth, the prophet Micah told us the place of Jesus’ birth, which was a little town outside the hustle and bustle of the big city of Jerusalem. The phrase that Micah used, “…whose origins are from of old, from ancient times” was a Hebrew idiom for eternity past. In other words, Jesus was there at the very beginning, He will be there this Christmas, and He will be there in the end.

Think about it, and have a blessed weekend! I hope to see you in Church on Sunday, as I share the first message of the Advent Season!
