Renew Your Mind – January 9, 2017
Proverbs 23:7, Solomon said “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Romans 12:1, Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
The New Year is always a great time for reflecting on the past year and making improvements and changes for the New Year. This week, I thought I would share a list of five areas that the Bible encourages us to do a spiritual checklist. The first one is to check your mind. The Bible says the way we think controls the way we act, and the way we act controls who we become.
In 2016, did you guard your mind from the wrong things? Did you allow your mind to think too much on unhealthy thoughts or consume too much unhealthy entertainment? If so, begin this new year by choosing to put the right things in your mind and think the right thoughts. And there is no better way to do that than to begin to fill your mind with God’s Word. In Romans 12:2, the Apostle Paul put it this way, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” So, determine today to renew your mind in 2017 by constantly focusing on God’s Word. You will definitely be better off for it.
Think about that and have a blessed day!
