Recently, a woman from Mobile, Alabama fell asleep on her living room sofa watching TV. During the night a tornado tore the roof off her house, however, she was not alarmed; in fact, she slept right through it. She was only awakened when rescuers and neighbors came to check on her.
She told reporters, “”I didn’t know I was that heavy of a sleeper. The tornado caved in the south side of my house and honestly, I didn’t hear it. I cannot believe I didn’t hear it but I didn’t.” She acknowledges appreciation for her safety in the dangerous situation and thanks God for bringing her through the storm.
As I read that story, I was reminded of the time in Mark’s Gospel where the disciples and Jesus were in a boat. A furious storm came up, but Jesus was sound asleep. When the disciples awakened him, Jesus calmed the storm and said, “Why are you a afraid?”
A simple truth of life is that we all fear storms, but the Bible promises that God will never leave us or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5) We can all be thankful for that!
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
