Have you ever thought about what it means to be “God’s Possession?” This headline recently caught my attention: “Woman Risks Her Life to Retrieve Cell Phone on Train Tracks.” It seems that a lady in Brazil dropped her phone on the train tracks and jumped down to retrieve it just as a train was coming. The video shows the lady tossing her phone back up on the platform before struggling to get up there herself – with her legs just inches away from the passing train.
My natural thought was– she is crazy. It is just a phone, so why risk your life? But in a spiritual sense that is exactly what Christ did for us when He came to earth some 2000 years ago. He left His platform in heaven to jump on the tracks of our sin and ultimately pay the price. And why would He do that? It’s simple, because we are His possession.
The Apostle Peter wrote, 1 Peter 2:9, But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…
Think about it, and I’ll see you in church on Sunday!
