Lesson 2- A growing faith acknowledges and overcomes temptation.
The first step in overcoming temptation is realizing its source. As James the brother of Jesus said,
“Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed” (James 1:14).
IF we are honest with ourselves, we will acknowledge that we each have our own temptations and weaknesses that draw us away from God’s plan and purpose. Some fall into weakness because of greed, others because of pride, loneliness, or immaturity. Temptation can affect our bodies, our minds, and our spirits. What is your weakness? Identify the source, and stop the cycle. Look inside your own heart today.
Think about it, and have a great day.
John Mark Caton, Ph.D
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
