The Bible says, “God’s mercy is new or fresh every morning.” (Lamentations 3:23)
I just finished reading an article about a man who went into a large grocery store and bought what he thought were fresh donuts. However, when he bit into the donuts he realized they were stale and dry. Upon further inspection he realized that a new “best if sold by” tag had been placed over the old one with a new date. In other words, the donuts were not fresh regardless of what the tag said.
The point is this – you can’t change the freshness of something by simply changing a sticker on the outside of the box. The only way to get fresh is to bake something brand new. And that takes us back to our original verse that says, “God’s mercies are new every day!”
In other words, regardless of how you lived yesterday or how long you have been away from God or out of church, God’s mercy and grace is just as fresh today as it was yesterday or yesteryear.
So look around you today, and take in the freshness of God’s blessings today.
Think about it, and I’ll see you in church on Sunday!
