Five days a week, 91 year-old Thelma Burton is still active in a favorite activity—volunteering. For the past 50 years, Thelma has purposefully given back to those in need, even when she struggles personally.
Her recent confinement to a wheelchair will not keep her from doing what she loves. Five days a week, she infuses other seniors with her lively spirit by whipping up some home-cooked meals and encouraging them to stay active through activity and exercise.
This lifelong do-gooder recently was named the winner of the “Salute to Seniors Service Award.” Thelma has no intention of quitting anytime soon proclaiming proudly that she “doesn’t do like most old people.”
What an incredible example to all of us!
The Apostle Peter gave a similar message to us by saying, “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps” (1 Peter 2:25).
So, regardless of your age or ability, look to Christ and follow in His steps, and you may just find yourself enjoying life to the fullest like Thelma. Don’t do life like other people- Stay active; make a difference; be a do-gooder.
Have a blessed day!
