In 2011, the University of Alabama won the National Championship in football. The reward for winning the National Championship is a $30,000 crystal football, a prized trophy indeed! But, a father of one of the players accidentally knocked the crystal football off its stand and shattered it into hundreds of pieces. The good news is that the trophy was insured and another crystal football was made to replace the shattered one.
Recently, the University of Alabama gathered up all the broken pieces of the original trophy and sold them on eBay to raise money for charity. The broken trophy raised $105,000. That is three times what the unbroken trophy was worth. The klutzy move turned into quick cash for a good cause.
That reminds me of what the Apostle Paul said in the book of 2 Corinthians, He wrote, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:7-9).
In other words, with God, we are still a treasure…cracks and all!
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
