A Massachusetts couple recently walked into a local bank and handed over 62,000 pennies; which by the way, is about 800 pounds of pennies.
Thomas Daigle and his wife Sandra had been saving the pennies for years for this special occasion. The special occasion was their final mortgage payment on their home. In 1977, Thomas and Sandra moved into their home and have been making payments every month for 35 years. Several years ago they came up with the idea to make their final house payment in pennies, thus launching their penny collection endeavor.
They collected the 62,000 pennies from couches, chairs, parks and anywhere else they could be found. Lost pennies do add up, and in this case they added up to a final house payment.
That story reminds me that little things done over time add up to big things. Jesus said in Luke 16, “He who is faithful in what is least, is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much” (Luke 16:10).
So do not miss out on the little things in life. After all, oftentimes the little things that do add up to big things.
Have a Blessed Day!
