Author-the Apostle Paul (1:1), with transcription help from Tertius (16:22).

Date-Approximately AD57 at the conclusion of Pauls’ third Missionary Journey.

Theme-We are all sinners but saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Distinctiveness-Most of Paul’s New Testament letters are addressed to churches Paul had planted or people he was personally acquainted with, however, the book of Romans was written to a congregation and Christian he had never met.  However, it was Paul’s desire to visit them shortly (Romans 1 & 15:23-24).
