Have you seen the Hunger Games film? A lot of folks did. Last Week, the popular film took the top spot at the box office again.

The “Hunger Games” is a film based on Susan Collins’ best-selling novel about 24 teenagers who are chosen to represent their districts in an annual competition, which turns out to be a fight to the death. Only one participant survives (or in this movie’s case two). Apparently, Americans are hungry for more of the Hunger Games and their appetites will be satisfied shortly with a sequel.

However, in the New Testament, Jesus spoke of a hunger that we all have that can only be filled by God. Not a hunger for entertainment but a hunger for righteousness. Not a yearning for power but for meekness.

In Matthew 5, Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

So, whether you have seen the Hunger Games or not, do not forget to let God satisfy the only hunger that really matters: the spiritual one!

Have a Blessed Day!
