Colossians 4:1, Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven. 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. (NIV)
In the book of Colossians, Paul gives words of instruction to those Colossian believers. As we look at the last chapter of that incredible book, the Apostle Paul offers a couple of final or concluding thoughts. My blogs this week will examine these thoughts.
Paul’s first concluding thought is found in Colossians chapter 4 verse 1. He says, “Employers, provide your employees with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven”. If you are an employer, listen to those words of the Apostle Paul and pay your employees what is “right and fair.” In other words, do not pay them the least you can get by with, instead pay them what they are really worth.
There is a flip-side to that thought. If you are the employee, make sure you are worth every penny your employer pays you. In doing this, both employee and employer can honor God; after all… He is the ultimate boss.
Think about it…and have a blessed week.
