Wendy Diamond plans to spend $200,000 on her dog’s wedding dress, cake, dinner, flowers and everything else a dog needs for a quality wedding. As you might imagine, this will set a new Guinness World Record for the “Most Expensive Pet wedding” (blowing away the previous record of $32,000).
To top it all off, the bride did not even get to choose her own groom. The new groom was chosen from Facebook Applications around the country. Before you judge this wedding planner too harshly, you should know that this elaborate event is raising money for a charity.
As I thought about the wasted dollars spent on a meaningless pet wedding, I also pondered the other things our culture does not consider wasteful; we tend to excessively waste time, money, energy, and food.
The Apostle Paul spoke about wasted efforts when he reminded the Galatians, “You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! (But), I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you” (Gal. 4:10-12).
We each have an opportunity today to capitalize on this day that God has given us. Our current circumstances, opportunities, and relationship should be embraced as chances to make an impact on our own life and the lives of others; let us waste not a single moment.
Have a Blessed Day and Productive Day!
