Recently, a California man found 345 comic books neatly stacked in the closet of his great-aunt’s house. He thought it was cool until he dug a little deeper and discovered that in the collection was a 1938 Action Comics No. 1, which happened to be Superman’s first appearance. Then he found a No. 1 from 1939 & 1940 featuring Batman’s first appearance.

When all was said and done, the comic book collection was auctioned off for $3.5 million. That’s right: 345 Comic books for $3.5 million.

Granted, the story of Superman and Batman are incredible tales, but they are not the greatest story ever told. The greatest story ever told happened 2,000 years ago.

Here’s how that story goes. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

It is a tale of love, faith, sacrifice, and a happy ending for those who believe. Now that’s a priceless script!
