Research in Psychology & Economics has found that people do get somewhat happier as their income increases, but only to a certain level. The most recent study published in the National Academy of Sciences on the subject in Income and Happiness found that life satisfaction rises with higher incomes, but only up to a total household income of about $75,000.

In other words, when your household income hits $75,000, you are as happy as money can make you. To be any more happy depends on something else, but what is that?

It’s called contentment. The Apostle Paul said, “11I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation” (Philippians 4:11-13).

Paul realized that having more stuff could only make him so happy, but real happiness comes with “contentment” and “His relationships with Christ!”
