God Gives Us Three Promises – August 11, 2016
Genesis 12:1, The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Sunday I began a new teaching series titled, Navigating Life’s Journey. This week’s blog focus is on having a proper understanding of God’s blessings in our lives, and earlier in the week we read the way to receive God’s blessings is to have right relationships with God and God’s people, then we have to get rid of sin and selfishness in our lives. When we do that, then God gives us three promises about His blessings. We find them in Genesis 12:2, God said, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”
Did you hear those three promises? First God’s promise says that, “I will bless you!” The second promise was when God said, “I will make your name great!” The third promise was when God said, “You will be a blessing to others,” Those are all promises that we really like, but remember, God’s blesses us in order to bless others through us. Before you ask God for more blessings in your life, what are you doing to bless others with what you already have? Is there a co-worker, family member, neighbor, friend or stranger that needs to be blessed by YOU today? Go be a blessing!
Think about that and have a blessed day!
