One of my favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:28. It says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
This past football season, a Kentucky high school boy named Trent Bauer started the year off as the team mascot. A few weeks into the season, he asked his coach if he could try out for the team. He started out on the junior varsity squad but was quickly noticed by the coaching staff for his strong arm, even though he had only played one year of football when he was10 years old.
By the end of the season, he was the starting quarterback on the varsity team.In the final game, he threw a 50-yard touchdown pass with only a few seconds left on the clock to lead his team to an improbable win against a rival high school.
In a matter of 7 weeks, Trent went from team mascot to starting quarterback. That story of success made me wonder… How many times do we settle for something minor, when God has something amazing planned for us? I am sure that Trent’s biggest hurdle was taking the first step and asking to get in the game. That is true with each of us in our daily walk. We have to be willing to try something new; we have to be willing to step out of our ‘comfort zones;’ we have to be willing to get on the field!
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
