How Can I Know I’m Forgiven? – June 29, 2016

Psalm 103:11, For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. 12As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

This month I have been teaching a series titled, “Faces of Grace!” I titled it “Faces of Grace” for a simple reason; we all need grace. Each and every one of us needs grace; we are the faces of grace.

As a Pastor, people often confess that they have messed up and have asked God for forgiveness, but they do not feel forgiven. They wonder how to know for sure that God has forgiven them. My favorite verse to use in response to a person wondering whether they are forgiven or not, or struggling with feeling forgiven is in Psalm 103:11, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. 12As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

Those verses remind us that God’s grace and forgiveness is not tied to our feelings. God’s grace and mercy have removed our transgressions, or sins, from us as far as the east is from the west, and that is a long way.

Do not let your feelings keep you from experiencing the grace of God!

Think about that…and have a grace-filled day!
