Rahab, The Prostitute – February 24, 2016

Hebrews 11:31, By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.

This week, we are taking a look at Hebrews 11 where we are given a pretty impressive list of the heroic men and women of the Old Testament. Hebrews 11 is often called the “Hall of Faith” or the “Faith Hall of Fame.” However, this week I want to focus on those with a checkered past who still made the “Faith Hall of Fame.” In other words, not everyone on this list lived a perfect life. However, God still used them in a mighty way, and here’s the good news. Regardless of your past God can still use you if you will simply let Him.

Remember Rahab the prostitute. Yes, a prostitute made it into God’s “Hall of Faith.” Rahab is one of the most unexpected members of the “Hall of Faith” with a pretty checkered past. She was a prostitute. And just what did Rahab do to earn her place in the “Hall of Faith?” She recognized the one true God and ultimately followed Him in such a special way that God allowed her to become an ancestor to both King David and Jesus. In spite of her past, God forgave her and used her. God can forgive your past sins as well, and God’s power in your life can still place you in the “Hall of Faith” if you will simply, like Rahab, recognize the one true God and follow Him.

Think about it…and have a blessed day!
