Noah, A Righteous Man – February 23, 2016
Hebrews 11:7, By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
This week, we are taking a look at Hebrews 11 where we are given a pretty impressive list of the heroic men and women of the Old Testament. Hebrews 11 is often called the “Hall of Faith” or the “Faith Hall of Fame.” However, this week I am focusing on those who had a pretty checkered past but still made the “Faith Hall of Fame.” In other words, not everyone on this list lived a perfect life. However, God still used them in a mighty way, and the good news is that regardless of your past, God can still use you if you will simply let Him.
Remember Noah? The Bible says he was a righteous man. Did you read that? Noah was righteous in everything he did, and he lived blamelessly among the people of his time; however, Noah wasn’t perfect. In Genesis chapter 9, we are told that Noah had a weakness for wine. In fact, we are told that Noah became drunk and passed out in his tent and ultimately became an embarrassment to himself and his sons. However, because of God’s grace, Noah was still used mightily by God in spite of his imperfection. God can do the same with you today. So, if you find yourself like Noah with a great weakness, look to God for grace and mercy… you just might end up in the “Hall of Faith” as well.
Think about it…and have a blessed day!
