There are several activities you can do this year to get out of your mental- rut; You can stretch and expand your brain power in 2012.
First, Give BOTH SIDES of your brain a WORKOUT.. writing by hand more often. The popular tendency in writing has moved from hand-written to typed-out. Keyboarding skills are taught along side handwriting to elementary students. For some, we are so out-of-the-habit of writing that we feel strange when we write, and our own handwriting seems unfamiliar. Brain scans show that handwriting engages more sections of the brain than typing…PLUS…it’s easier to remember something once you’ve written it down…So write it down!
Second, work in BURST…When at work…Work hard and uninterrupted for 25 straight minutes…then take a short break…then go back to work. The frequent rests aid in mental acumen & agility…So Work in Burst.
Third, get MORE SLEEP! A recent Harvard study demonstrated that your brain continues to process thoughts and memories even after you fall asleep. The more you rest the more efficient your brain functions…So Get more sleep
If you are too stressed out to sleep don’t forget what Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”(Matthew 11:28)
As we study the book of Proverbs @ Cottonwood Creek, we know that: Gaining wisdom is hard work; Gaining wisdom takes time; Gaining wisdom means making some changes to improve, & gaining wisdom means asking for help.
