Paul McCArtney recently performed at the Opening Day Ceremony for the London Olympic games. This former beatle was paid a mere $1.57, even though he could have demanded much more from Olympic organizers.
Certainly this was a kind and selfless gesture by McCartney to make sure that opening ceremonies were a huge success.
As I thought about his generosity, I remembered the similar words referring to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Scripture tells us that He “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Of all the people who ever walked the earth, Jesus could have demanded whatever He wanted, but He did not. He washed His disciples’ feet, made the lame walk, and caused the blind to see…and then when His days of serving on earth were done, He died of the cross for our sins.
Now that is a great example of serving others that will keep on giving.
Have a Blessed Day!
