Being Distracted – July 28, 2016

Something I seem to hear a lot from friends and fellow Church-going Christians is this phrase, “I’m not a good Christian,” or “I’m not a good Christian because I don’t read the Bible every morning,” or “I play Pokémon Go or Facebook too much, or this or that!” Well, can I let you in on a little secret? As a human being on planet earth, it’s normal to be distracted. There is so much going on around you, especially in today’s world.

I juggle work, school and interning at Cottonwood Creek. One of the biggest struggles of my life is prioritizing. In Romans, Paul says that our expectations for being that good Christian or for Paul, simply doing what he wants to do, is something we simply do not have the ability to carry out by ourselves. Be free from that old law today, and choose well what God has given you. A good Christian is not an expectation, so do not fret. Simply carry your cross each day, and love others in the same way that God’s impossible love has covered you.

Have a blessed day!
