I realize we are still months away from the start of the NFL season, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have stirred up the football world with the introduction of their new uniforms. Here is what the official Buccaneers press release said; “The uniform is a completely integrated system of dress with a new design that honors the Buccaneers’ rich tradition while boldly bringing the team into the future through a modern industrial design.”
If you have been following the story at all, the sports world did not receive the new uniforms with much praise. I have seen the uniform, and I really do not have an opinion, but what do you really expect from a team that used to dress like a Dreamsicle?
Here is the real point. If the Buccaneers are terrible, everyone is going to make fun of the uniforms. However, if they are great and win a lot of games the uniform won’t be an issue. Honestly, how the team looks will not impact their ability.
It is kind of that way in God’s Book. I love 1 Samuel 16:7, where is says, “But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
In God’s book it does not matter how big, tall or handsome you are; it matters what’s in your heart. How we look does not impact our ability to be used by God.
So, no more excuses!
