John 8:12, Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
A Pennsylvania man recently received an extremely special gift from his sister. He had been exceedingly colorblind all his life. However, his sister raised enough money to buy him a pair of special “EnChroma” glasses that allowed him to see the full color spectrum for the very first time. When he put them on, he was pretty overwhelmed. One of the first things he did was have his kids look him in the eye to see their beautiful eye color.
As I thought about that story, I was reminded of these words of Jesus; He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
In other words, Jesus was saying I am the one who can allow you to see the world, and all of its ups and downs in full color. That full color spectrum from a Godly perspective includes God’s grace in the world and purpose for our lives.
Also, as Christians we need to be like that loving sister who gave her brother that special pair of glasses which allowed him to see the full spectrum of colors. We should be the same way, helping others see God’s grace and purpose in their lives every day, including today.
Think about it, and have a blessed day!
