We must be the same but different.  It is important to have the same goal, the same mentality, and the same compassion; however, we will all contribute to life in our own individual ways using our own individual strengths.

Philippians 2:2, Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

In youth sports, there is often one player on a team that becomes the ‘go to’ player for every offensive play. The success of the team will rise and fall on the performance of this one player. The worst part is the other players on the team will defer desire to grow in their own skill and passion to that one player.

All teams, including sports, businesses, families, and nations, should operate in a significantly different way. Consider the ants, which live in colonies. Each colony consists of approximately 5,000 individual ants who can’t prosper on their own. They need each other. How does a colony of that many ants work together? The answer is unity. Each ant shares the same purpose and the same goal.

Just as ants can’t achieve victory on their own, neither can members of a team. Ants need each other just like people need each other, and we need to work together just as the ants. The best way to accomplish this is by sharing the same purpose. We don’t have to agree on everything, but we do have to be intent on the same purpose.  Together, if we love God and each other, He will be faithful and bless our colony!
