Colossians 3:12, Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

The new iWatch, Samsung Gear, and the Pebble Smartwatch, all are on the forefront of the new wave of something called “wearable technology”.

This new area of design and computers has some really neat applications. We can buy Bluetooth enabled earrings, USB connected gloves, and heart monitoring wristbands. I enjoy competing with my wife on who takes the most steps using our Fitbits as our wearable technology.

Did you know that God has been in the wearable business since He created us? The apostle Paul talks about it in the New Testament book of Colossians as he discusses God’s “wearable theology”:

“clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12  In the next verse he adds forgiveness as a clothing item, and then tells us how to get all of our wearables to coordinate and fit by putting on love.

So, the next time we read about or put on some “wearable technology”, let’s remember to also put on our “wearable theology.”
