Colossians 1:9, For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Paul prayed this prayer for the Colossian Christians, …we have not stopped praying for you. 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: … 12giving joyful thanks to the Father. (Colossians 1:9-12) Did you read that?   He prayed that they would “give joyful thanks” to the Father.

I once heard a story about a beggar who stood outside a coffee shop every day begging for enough money to buy a cup of coffee. Every day one patron would walk by and give him enough money for a cup of coffee. Then one day the beggar stopped the patron, and instead of saying thank you, he simply told the generous man that the price of coffee had gone up so he needed more money. No “thank you” at all. He simply wanted more money.

That seems pretty shocking, but I wonder how many of us are the same way with God. We never pause to thank God for all the gifts He has already given us. Instead we always want and ask for more. Pause today and make a list of all the things God has done for you- Thank Him for those things.  If you are in a difficult time in life… pause and think about what God has done for you.

Think about it…and have a blessed day!
