Hi, this is Dave Marsh, the Children’s Pastor at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church with your inspirational thought of the day.

All of us can probably think of that person who tends to drain energy from us whenever we’re around them. But I’m certain that you also can think of someone who always seem to have a way to refresh you. We all need people like that in our lives, and hopefully, we can even BE that person to others.

Philemon was one of those refreshing friends of the Apostle Paul, according to Scripture. Paul wrote this to Philemon: “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”

Philemon was known as a heart refresher; and not a heart drainer. Therefore, Paul could write to Philemon trusting him to deal with a difficult situation on the basis of love. We can choose to be a heart drainer or a heart refresher. Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Be a generous refresher of others, teaching your children to do the same, and watch God work in your family.
