Five Keys To Happiness – September 3, 2015
Lamentations 3:40, Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.
This week’s blogs showcase characteristics of happy people. So far, we have studied that: happy people don’t dwell on past failures; happy people don’t dwell on negative thoughts, and happy people don’t hang out with negative or toxic people. Today’s truth about happiness is that happy people don’t lie to themselves.
Being happy doesn’t mean you lie to yourself and pretend everything is perfect. At the same time, happy people don’t lie to themselves and pretend they are perfect. The Bible says, “Let us examine our ways and test them…” If we are going to truly be happy we have to grow, and for us to grow, we have to examine our ways, the way we talk, the way we act, our relationships, and our habits. The truth is I don’t like tests or exams, but I also know there are times for testing and times for examinations. When I am sick and I go to the doctor, I want him to run some tests and examine me. The same is true for you today, if you are sick or things are not going well in your life, test and examine yourself. You may not like what you find, but being honest with yourself about your words and actions is a step toward growth and happiness.
Think about it…and have a blessed day!
