The Christian Walk in a Changing Culture – May 25, 2015
Colossians 1:2, To the Saints, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ at Colossae: Grace and peace to you from God our Father!
It is pretty clear as we look around our society that life changes and not always for the better. The very fabric of our SOCIETY changes with the new times. It seems as though our current culture is more closely related to those early Christians who lived during the New Testament times; one such place was known as Colossae.
The Apostle Paul writes, To the saints, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ at Colossae: Grace and peace to you from God our Father! (Colossians 1:2) In that one verse, the Apostle Paul says a mouthful. He uses the words Saints, denoting those who are Christians. He uses the word Colossae, noting the geography in which they lived. The truth is that every Christian lives in those two spheres: the spiritual sphere of being a Christian, which speaks to our relationship with God, and the physical realm in which we live, which is our actual physical location.
Notice that the other word Paul uses is “faithful.” In using that word, the Apostle Paul challenges believers to stay faithful in the Christian walk regardless of the changing culture around them.
So be faithful today Saint, and have a blessed day!
