Serve God With Passion – October 11, 2016

Romans 12:11, Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Matthew 6:33, But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been in a teaching series at Cottonwood Creek titled Relationship Goals God’s Way. During the first three weeks, I spoke about three keys to great relationships: love, humility and forgiveness. If you missed any of those thoughts, you can find them on my daily blog.

The fourth fundamental of ‘Relationships Goals’ God’s Way is the goal of uncommon commitment. In Romans 12, the Apostle Paul gives us five keys to uncommon commitment. Yesterday, we studied the first key:  If we want great relationships, we need to be a lover and a hater! We have to hate what is evil in our relationships and keep evil out, but we also need to love what is good in our relationships and keep that in. (

The second key to an uncommon commitment is to serve God with passion! In Romans 12:11, Paul says, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”  Paul says that one of the best ways you keep relationships strong is by serving God with zeal. In other words, the closer we get to God and the more we serve Him, the stronger our relationships will be. C.S. Lewis put it this way, “When I have learned to love God better than my earthly relationships, I shall love my earthly relationships better than I do now…because, when first things are put first, second things are not suppressed but increased.” So serve God with zeal today and see the impact it has on your relationships.

Think about that and have a blessed day!
