Who would believe that a weightless balloon could impact over 15,000 people? Valentine’s evening, a helium-filled balloon scored a direct hit on a power substation in Southern California knocking out power to thousands of customers. A spokesman for the power company says the run-away Valentine’s gift floated into the substation and knocked out power for over an hour.
Surprisingly, helium balloon-caused outages are not uncommon; most often they arise around Valentine’s Day and in June during school graduations.
It is good to know that there are no Biblical blackouts. Scripture tells us that there is one power that never ceases.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory for ever and ever!” (Eph. 3:20-21).
Even when the power goes out around us, it doesn’t have to go out in us. Christ’s power is at work within each of us. His power is not full of hot air. It has the strength to impact the past, the present, and the future. Plug in to Him today.
