The day before the Super Bowl, The New England Patriots released wide receiver Tiquan Underwood from their active roster. As any of us would be, Underwood was heart broken and could have blasted his former team and organization.
However, Underwood surprised the world when he began tweeting about his former team saying, “Good luck to the New England Organization, the coaches and all my teammates.”
And he did not stop there. He continued to cheer on his former teammates during the game. When people asked why Underwood took the high road and was not making disparaging remarks about the team that gave him his walking papers he responded, “I’m rooting for the Patriots because I have class. Envy gets you nothing & nowhere. Grow up people.”
Because of his positive attitude, Underwood left a mark on the Super Bowl without ever playing a snap.
Surely, he understood the words of Solomon who said, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones” (Proverbs 14:30).
