I recently read an article that stated that Americans are forgetting civil etiquette. The article went on to state that rudeness and bad manners are on the rise and in some places out-of-control.
When people use technology and social networking, the tendency is to be harsh and rude with their words, using words that they would not incorporate if they were talking face-to-face. In reality, this shouldn’t be the case! Regardless of whether we are talking face-to-face or texting someone, we should go out of our way to say kind words and ratchet down the rhetoric.
Solomon said, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). So, whether you are talking, tweeting, or texting today, consider your words. Go out of your way to make your words gracious and sweet. After all, those are the kind of words that bring healing and joy to yourself and others.
