A recent report on American Happiness and Money was just published. Here is what it said: in 1972, 30 percent of Americans said they were very happy, and the average income was $25,000…in today’s dollars.

And 40 years later, the average income of an American family has risen by 50% yet the number of Americans who said they are very happy is virtually unchanged at about 31%.

If money alone could make you happier a 50% rise in household income should do it.  But we aren’t any happier.

It seems like Solomon was right when he said, “Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil” (Proverbs 15:16).

If you are searching for happiness today don’t think that having a little more money will fix the problem. After all, the writer of the book of Proverbs was right when he said, “Loving God is the only thing that will bring real happiness.”

Have a Blessed Day!
