Samson – February 25, 2016

Hebrews 11:32, And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, 33who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised…

This week, we’ve been looking at some of the most unlikely members of the “Faith Hall of Fame” listed in Hebrews 11. So far, our list includes Noah, Rahab and Sarah who had pretty checkered past, but still ended up in the “Hall of Faith.” If you missed those earlier Inspirational Thoughts, you can find them on my daily blog @ Another hall of famer is Samson. If you know the story of Samson, it’s one of the saddest in all of the Old Testament. Samson was blessed by God with incredible potential. However, like many of us, Samson squandered his potential because of his selfishness and sinfulness.

In spite of all the victories that Samson won in his life, he constantly gave in to temptations and the consequences of his sin were disastrous for those around him, as well as, for himself. However, the good news is that Samson finally realized his mistakes, returned to God and sacrificed himself for his people, and won a great victory for God and God’s people. In spite of all he did wrong, God still had a place for him in the “Hall of Faith!” God can do the same for you; if your past has been marked by as much sin as it has victory, God can still use you. However, like Samson, there has to be that day that you return to Him, and perhaps that day is today.

Think about it…and have a blessed day!
