God Revealed His Character To Us – December 23, 2015

Colossians 1:15, The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

An image is a physical likeness or representation of something else. Just like a photograph captures the likeness of your child or mate, or a sculpture captures the likeness of the original object. Jesus was the image of God, so when we look at Jesus, we see God. And what do we see when we look at Jesus? We see love, wondrous love. We see grace, amazing grace. We see sacrifice, total sacrifice. Remember what the wise men said in Matthew 2:1, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.’” The wise men over 2,000 years ago realized that they were looking for the King. They knew when they looked at Jesus they were looking at the image of God. My prayer for you this Christmas is that you would see the same.

In every present, in every manger scene, in every smile, don’t forget that Jesus is the image of God!

Think about it, and have a Merry Christmas!
