We Have Seen His Glory – December 22, 2015
John 1:14, The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John said, “We have seen His glory!” What a sight it must have been seeing the glory of God in the flesh. I don’t know about you, but I would have loved to have been there when Jesus walked on the water, fed the 5,000, made the lame walk or caused the blind to see. Honestly, I’m a little bit irreverent enough where I would have enjoyed Jesus’ verbal jabs at the religious leaders of the day. Such as the time He spoke to the religious leaders and said they were like the “…blind leading the blind…” (Matthew 15:14). Another time, when He said their teachings were like “…straining out a gnat while trying to eat a camel.” (Matthew 23:24).
I would have loved to have been there to see that all of that, but John’s detailed account makes it clear that out of all of those things we could have witnessed had we been with Christ, the most important thing we could have seen was that Jesus was “full of grace and truth!” Jesus spoke words of grace and truth; His actions exemplified and embodied grace and truth
Think about it, and have a Merry Christmas!
