Did you know that 2012 might have been the best year ever? It may not feel like it, but according to one article, 2012 was the greatest year in the history of the world. That sounds like an extravagant claim, but it is born out of last year’s statistics.
Never has there been less poverty. In 1990 the United Nations announced development goals to cut in half the number of people who lived in extreme poverty by 2015. That goal was met last year. Also, 2012 brought the greatest amount of advances in medicine and medical technology. People are living longer around the world.
Another improvement from 2012 was in the area of natural disasters. Mother Nature still wreaks havoc, but there have been fewer and fewer deaths and losses of lives attributed to these natural disasters; this is due to the fact that countries are better prepared.
So, 2012 may just have been the best year ever. Yes, natural disasters, poverty, and sickness still exist, but we can always focus on God’s love. That is the same in 2012 and 2013.
Have a blessed day and a Happy New Year!
